Pilgrimage WYD

World Youth Day is much more than a large Catholic event. Established by Saint John Paul II in 1985, bringing millions of young adults together.

It is a pilgrimage where young people from around the world gather with the Holy Father to encounter Christ, pray with the universal Church, and discover more deeply what God may be asking of them.

During World Youth Day week, pilgrims take part in catechesis, Mass, prayer, cultural events and major gatherings with the Pope. The week leads up to the Saturday evening vigil complete with Eucharistic Adoration and the Sunday final Mass, two of the most powerful moments of the pilgrimage.

World Youth Day is joyful, international, and unforgettable. It is also demanding. Pilgrims should expect walking, crowds, waiting, and long days. These challenges are not separate from the experience. They are part of what helps young people step outside of ordinary life and open themselves more fully to grace.
